The new generation of the Peugeot hot hatch, the 208 GTI, in concept form, has been recently revealed, ahead of its official debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.
After the French based automaker has recently teased the new Peugeot 208 GTI not too long ago, the company has decided that time has come for the hot hatch to be fully revealed, in its concept form, and what better way to do so than by releasing a lot of images with the model, along with some official performance details. As you can see from the images posted below, the new Peugeot 208 GTI Concept is coming with some modest updates, like the GTI Concept logo on the grille and on its quarter panels, sill skirt extensions and lower bodywork spoilers.
Under the hood, the Peugeot 208 GTI Concept is powered, just like initial rumors said, by the company’s 1.6 liter turbocharged engine shared by the RCZ THP 200, which is now developing a total output of 197 horsepower and it has a peak torque of 275 Nm (203 lb-ft) of torque. The unit is being mated to a six-speed manual transmission which is helping the model to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds. The Peugeot 208 GTI hasn’t officially been confirmed for production yet but this will most likely happen once the concept car will be officially unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show on the 6th of March.
