Here it is – live and red – the Elise-bodied, Corvette ZR1-powered Hennessey Venom GT.
The body updates were done by Steve Everitt who has designed VenomAero kits for Hennessey dating back to 1996. His design shows a low-slung coupe which has a retractable rear wing, low frontal area and deep air intakes on the side as well as the roof.
The Venom GT is powered by General Motors’ 6.2 L (380 cu in) LS9 supercharged V8 that can be found in the Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1. The modified engine will produce 725 bhp (541 kW). With this power and a very light body, Hennessey Venom GT will hit 100m/h in a mind boggling 2.4-seconds and a top speed of ~ 437km/h.
Good luck to the test driver who has to verify it, though because the Lotus Elise-based Venom GT only weighs 1100kg, which means it needs dollops of downforce to keep it from taking off.
This model comes with a 6-speed Ricardo manual and theoretically reaches 260 mph in sixth gear at 6,600 rpm, though the speedo goes up to 270 mph.
Stopping power comes via Brembos with 6-piston calipers and 15-inch carbon ceramic discs at each corner.
