The Japanese based automaker Mitsubishi has recently announced that the brand new Outlander, along with the Lancer Evolution, will serve as safety cars during the 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb.
Mitsubishi is planning to attract a lot of attention during this edition of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and besides racing two electric-powered vehicles, the Japanese based automaker will also provide two extra models, a 2014 Outlander and a Lancer Evolution, to serve as safety cars. The new Outlander is probably one of the most economic SUVs ever to attend the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, no matter what engine is being used under its hood.
The 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander in question has been equipped with all-wheel drive, and this will help it tackle with just about everything happening on the 12.4 mile course. Besides the new Outlander, Mitsubishi will also use a supplemental safety car, a Lancer Evolution in not one, but two units. This is a turbocharged all-wheel drive sports machine which is very fast and fun to drive. The Lancer Evo should feel right at home during the Pikes Peak. The 91st running of the event will kick off on the 30th of June.
