The full GT treatment might be given to the brand new Boxster Spyder by Porsche, as a new report is indicating.
The Porsche Cayman GT4 has made the German based automaker thinking about adding such a version to the recently unveiled Boxster Spyder. The report, which has been published by Autocar, is quoting a source within the company and it is telling us that if this happens, than the new Porsche Boxster Spyder GT4 will be carrying the same brakes as the 911 GT3 instead of the ones from the regular 911, the same aerodynamic package as the Cayman GT4, sports seats, some changes made to the cabin and so on. All of these will be making its price higher as this currently starts from 60,459 GBP.
The Porsche Boxster Spyder is coming with the 3.8 liter six-cylinder engine under its hood, the same one used on the Cayman GT4, but in this case this is good for 375 HP (276 kW), allowing the drop-top sports car to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in 4.5 secodns and to reach a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph). On the Cayman GT4, the same 3.8 liter unit is good for 385 HP (283 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft), connected to a 6-speed manual transmission. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), the model needs 4.4 seconds and top speed stands at 295 km/y (183 mph). The Cayman GT4 has apparently managed to lap the Ring in 7 minutes and 40 seconds.
