The next generation of the Volkswagen Tiguan is believed to give birth to a Coupe R range-topping version.
Volkswagen has a lot of plans for its future models and its vehicle lineup will soon increase with the addition of a new Tiguan generation. The midsized SUV is still a few years away but according to a recent report, this will be giving birth to a range-topping Coupe R version. The model in question will be shown sometimes in 2018 and it is believed to get an aggressive and more aerodynamic body kit, an electronic torque vectoring function, a specially tuned MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension system, a four-mode adaptive damping system and several other goodies.
Under the hood of the vehicle, a 2.0 liter turbocharged gasoline engine is expected to be found, with four cylinders and a total output of 300 HP and 280 lb-ft of torque. Power will be sent exclusively to the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Volkswagen Tiguan Coupe R is believed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.1 seconds. The cabin of the model will be upgraded too and expect a digital instrument cluster, a lot of safety and assistance systems and a head-up display, amongst others. Before the Tiguan Coupe R will be shown, Volkswagen will be introducing the second-gen of the vehicle at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, in mid-September. This will be followed in 2016 by a 7-seat version, with a longer wheelbase. The Tiguan Coupe R will be introduced in 2018.
