According to Polk’s report the Ford Focus is the best-selling passenger car globally, besides other two Ford models in top 10.
Last year Ford sold 1, 020,410 Focus vehicles globally, mainly due to increasing demand in China and the US. Registrations in China increased 51% in 2012 and 40% in the US. Besides the fact that the Focus was the best-selling passenger vehicle, the Ford Fiesta was named the best-selling subcompact globally, with 723,130 registrations. Together, Fiesta and Focus sold last year 1,743,540 vehicles worldwide.
“Focus and Fiesta represent the culmination of our One Ford global product strategy,” said Jim Farley, Ford executive vice president, global marketing, sales and service and Lincoln. “Our global products are resonating with consumers – especially in the best-selling, most competitive segments – with their unique combination of fuel efficiency, high quality, rich content and fun-to-drive personalities.
The F-Series, which has been the best-selling pickup for 36 consecutive years in the US, took the 3rd place, with 785,630 trucks sold in 2012. The second place was taken by the Toyota Corolla, followed on the fourth place by the Wuling Zhiguang, the Toyota Camry on the 5th place, the Ford Fiesta on the 6th, the VW Golf on the 7th, the Chery Cruze on the 8th, the Honda Civic on the 9th and the Honda CR-V on the last place.
