Pope Francis Tells Priests to Buy More ‘Humble’ Cars image

Today, July 6th, Pope Francis said that he does not agree with the priests getting flashy cars and that he told them to buy more ‘humble’ vehicles.

Pope Francis plans to make the Catholic Church more austere and also focus on the poor, therefore he told the young priests and nuns all over the world that owning the latest smartphone or flashy cars or fashion accessories is not the route to happiness.

“It hurts me when I see a priest or a nun with the latest model car, you can’t do this,” he said. “A car is necessary to do a lot of work, but please, choose a more humble one. If you like the fancy one, just think about how many children are dying of hunger in the world,” he said.

Pope Francis replaced Pope Benedict in March, and since then he has chose to live in a Vatican guest house, avoiding the opulent papal apartments and the ostentatious trappings of his office. According to ANSA news agency the pope chose a compact Ford Focus as his car of choice for moving around in Vatican City.
