Porsche 911 (991) launched in Malaysia

The new generation of the Porsche 911, codenamed 991, has been recently launched in Malaysia, and the model has a starting price of RM430,000 for the Carrera and RM490,000 for the Carrera S.

After being launched in several markets worldwide, after making its debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the new generation of the Porsche 911 has recently arrived in Malaysia too, in both versions, the Carrera and Carrera S. Porsche says that the 911, or 991 as it is also being known, is coming with the same features and engines in Malaysia as in other markets, so this means that the base Carrera is powered by a 3.4 liter unit and the Carrera S with the 3.8 liter powerplant.

The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera is developing, from its 3.4 liter boxer engine, a total output of 350 horsepower, allowing the sports car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, while the more powerful version, the Carrera S, and its 3.8 liter boxer unit, can do the same spring in 4.1 seconds thanks to its 400 horsepower, but the acceleration time is cut to just 3.9 seconds with the PDK and Launch Control. The Carrera has a top speed of 179 mph and the Carrera S 188 mph.

The new Porsche 911 is coming with some performance enhancements like the automatic start/sstop, engine transmission and thermal management, electrical system recuperation and the electro-mechanical power steering, which are helping improve the fuel efficiency. The Porsche 911 Carrera has a starting price of RM430,000 in Malaysia, while the Carrera S costs RM490,000.
