Porsche has introduced the online configurator for the brand new 918 Spyder hybrid supercar.
Following its world debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the German based automaker Porsche has recently introduced the online configurator for the brand new 918 Spyder, so your future dream car is getting closer and closer to you. Only 918 units of the Porsche 918 Spyder will be produced and its starting price, in the United States, will stand at 845,000 USD, so you need to do a little money saving before heading over to your local dealership.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is powered by a 4.6 liter naturally aspirated V8 gasoline engine, which is “helped” by two electric motors, each on one axle. The petrol burner is good for 608 HP (447 kW) and the electric motors are generating 286 HP (210 kW). Porsche says that the total output of the hybrid supercar stands at 887 JP (652 kW) while the peak torque is varying, depending on the gear ratio, between 917 Nm (676 lb-ft) and 1,289 Nm (944 lb-ft).
The all-wheel drive is getting its power from a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission and the electric motors are fed by a 6.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. In the E-Power electric mode, the Porsche 918 Spyder can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds and in Race Hybrid mode in 2.8 seconds. Top speed stands at 345 km/h (214 mph) and the average fuel consumption is 3.0L / 100 km.
