Porsche has recently launched a microsite dedicated to the upcoming 918 Spyder, which should make its official debut, in its final production form, later on this year.
The German based automaker Porsche is placing the new 918 Spyder into the spotlights once again, this time with the help of a microsite, which is detailing the upcoming hypercar. The new Porsche 918 Spyder will go on sale against brand new hybrid supercars like the Ferrari LaFerrari and the McLaren P1, and the model is expected to be officially presented to the public, in a world premiere, in September, during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The new Porsche 918 Spyder will weigh 1,640 kg and it will get an independent all-wheel drive system. The hypercar will be powered by a 4.6 liter eight-cylinder engine, producing 608 HP. The unit is sourced from the RS Spyder and, according to the carmaker, it can be revved all the way up to 9,150 rpm. The electric motor is providing an extra 95 HP and it has been fitted on the front axle, for better weight distribution. The 887 HP hybrid powertrain is mated to a seven-speed PDS. More details on the new Porsche 918 Spyder are limited for the moment.
