The aftermarket specialists at Speedart have pulled the wraps off their latest creation, an update package for the new Porsche Boxster, which has been named the SP81-R.
According to the tuner, the Porsche Boxster 981 is coming with an aerodynamic body kit which is highlighted by the rear diffuser, prominent rear wing, revised side skirts and redesigned front spoiler. The roadster is now sitting on 20-inch LSC forged alloy wheels, but these can also be ordered on 21-inch size. The cabin of the SP81-R has been fitted with a variety of leather and Alcantara upholstery and the model is also coming with a sport exhaust system, which, along with the revised ECU, is adding 20 HP and 20 Nm of torque (15 lb-ft) to the vehicle’s output. Speedart didn’t announce an official price for the SP81-R but don’t expect it to come cheap.
As a quick reminder, the new Porsche Boxster, codenamed the 981, is lighter than the model it’s replacing and it’s also coming with a longer wheelbase, larger wheels and wider tracks, along with a fully electric roof in standard. The entry-level version is taking its power from the 2.7 liter flat-six engine, which is producing 265 HP and 280 Nm of torque between 4,500 and 6,500 rpm. The model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 262 km/h. the Boxster S has a 3.4 liter flat-six engine, generating 315 HP and 360 Nm of torque and the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in this version is done in 4.8 seconds. Top speed is 277 km/h.
