Porsche has debuted the new Boxster Spyder at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
The new generation of the Porsche Boxster has received its most hardcore version, in the shape of the Spyder. The model has been unveiled over the web a few days back and it’s now exhibited at the 2015 New York Auto Show. The model is getting high performance brakes, which have been borrowed from its larger brother, the 911 Carrera, the bespoke lightweight soft top which is partially manually operated, the 20mm lowered sports suspension system, the front and rear ends which seem to have been sourced from the new Cayman GT4 and several other tweaks.
The Porsche Boxster Spyder is also packing the new 360mm in diameter steering wheel, the air conditioning and radio control units which have been eliminated in order to cut down the weight and the 3.8 liter six-cylinder engine. This is capable of producing a total output of 375 HP (276 kW), enough to allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds. The model can reach a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph). Porsche says that the brand new Boxster Spyder will become available for order on its local market, Germany, starting this July. Prices for it will go from 79,945 EUR, while in the United States, where it will arrive in October, it will cost 82,100 USD. More details on the roadster will be announced close to its sale date.
