Porsche has announced that a potent V8 diesel engine will be offered on the Cayenne and the new version will be officially presented to the public at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
After starting its life as a simple rumor, the Porsche Cayenne V8 Diesel is close to making its world debut and after confirming it, the German based automaker has announced that it will be officially presented to the public on the 27th of September during the 2012 Paris Motor Show. According to the car manufacturer, the new Porsche Cayenne V8 Diesel will be powered by a 4.2 liter V8 diesel unit “borrowed” from Audi.
Porsche says that the 4.2 liter V8 engine is getting twin variable vane turbochargers and common rail injection technology, producing a total output of 377 BHP and a peak torque of 626 lb-ft, which is 140 BHP and 221 lb-ft more than developed by the current 3.0 liter V6 diesel. The Porsche Cayenne V8 Diesel can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 157 mph. The crossover is rated at 34.0 mpg and it’s emitting 218 g/km of CO2 thanks to new technology like the stop/start.
