Well, don’t expect to call it out because it’s not that kind of a taxi!
The Cars & Coffee event in Aliso Viejo, California, over the past weekend, has seen the debut of a Porsche Cayman GT4 Taxi. The model in question has a Racing Yellow factory color along with a taxi box fitted to its roof but this won’t be used by an exotic cab company for marketing, so don’t expect to take joyrides in it anytime soon.
The new Porsche Cayman GT4 has been officially presented to the public during the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. This is the hot version of the Cayman and it has borrowed the suspension system and brakes of its larger and more powerful brother the 911 GT3 RS. The sports car has a 30 mm lowered ride height, carbon fiber reinforced plastic seats, a Sport Chrono package available as an option adding the carbon ceramic brakes and much more.
The most important part of the Cayman GT4 is found under its hood, where the 3.8 liter flat six-cylinder engine is found. The unit, borrowed from the 911 Carrera S, has 385 HP (283 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque, sent to the wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The model needs just 4.4 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) and it can go up to a top speed of 295 km/h (183 mph). Prices for the Porsche Cayman GT4 start from 85,779 euros on its local market, Germany.
