A four-door / four-seat version of the Porsche 918 Spyder is currently being considered by the German based automaker, which will probably be named the 984.
The carmaker didn’t make an official announcement on the subject just yet but according to the guys at Automobile, the report suggests that the Porsche 918 Spyder will gain a second version. The model in question is believed to ride on a stretched variant of the 918 which will allow the addition of rear doors and two extra seats. The larger Porsche 918 is expected to be named the 984 and, unlike its drop-top brother, it will get a mid-mounted V8 engine, instead of the hybrid powertrain.
The upcoming Porsche 984’s engine should produce approximately 700 HP, which will be sent to the rear-wheel drive through a seven-speed PDK. Additional details on the new model are limited for the moment and will probably be announced over the following weeks. The regular Porsche 918 Spyder will be officially presented to the public on the 10th of September, during the Frankfurt Motor Show, in its final production version. The model will be powered by a 4.6L V8 and two electric motors, producing a total output of 885 HP. The 0 to 60 mph sprint will take 2.8 seconds and top speed will stand at 210 mph.
