Porsche has registered the 919 name image

The German based automaker Porsche has recently registered the 919 name at a German patent office and this means that a new sports car will make its way onto the market soon.

The company’s CEO Matthias Mueller has confirmed just a few days ago that the carmaker will produce four new models by 2018 and it seems that one of these models will wear the 919 name. According to the guys at GT Spirit, the German based automaker has registered the 919 name and this can only mean one thing: the company will use it on a new model. No details on what vehicle will wear the 919 name for the moment but Porsche has a lot of choices.

The Porsche officials have to decide on producing a new sports car, which will be slotted between the 911 and the 918 Spyder sometimes next year, as well as developing a new entry-level sedan, which is expected to wear the Pajun name. Besides these two, the carmaker will also launch the Macan crossover at the end of 2014, which will be a smaller version of the Cayenne. The production version of the 918 Spyder will also make its way onto the market.
