Porsche broke its ties with Precision Cars and appointed Volkswagen Group Sales as the official importer of all Porsche range of cars into India.
“With this new agreement, we are looking forward to exploring the opportunities across India even further,” Porsche, Middle East and Africa, FZE Managing Director George Wills said in a statement.
Precision Cars India has been Porsche’s official importer in the country and the company’s officials declared that they were not informed about the change.
A spokesperson of Porsche said the contract with Precision Cars had been “terminated in order to set up a dedicated Porsche representation and make use of the synergies within Volkswagen’s National Sales company in India.”
Wills added that the company’s future relies on the development of emerging markets and that they are sure sales in the sub-continent will continue to grow in the following years. Since 2004 Porsche sold 1,052 units in China and last year 85% of the total deliveries were accomplished by Cayenne models.
“Building on the growing success of Porsche in India is not a challenge; it’s something we are looking forward to embracing with pride,” Volkswagen Group Sales India Porsche-division Head Anil Reddi said.
