The German based automaker Porsche has recently announced its plans to hire 1,000 more workers in Leipzig for producing the brand new Macan crossover.
Porsche’s family is getting ready to receive one more member and after the iconic 911, the Boxster, the Cayman, the Panamera and the Cayenne, the carmaker will now produce a crossover, which will be named the Macan. The Porsche Macan will be assembled in Leipzig, a plant which needs 1,000 more workers for this “action” to take place.
“We have a new addition to our model family – now we’re looking for qualified and highly motivated people in production for the realization of our ambitious goals. We want employees with petrol in their blood”, said the Porsche AG member of executive board Production and Logistics, Oliver Blume.
Porsche didn’t release any details on the Macan just yet but initial rumors are saying that the model might come with both petrol and diesel engines, including the 2.0 liter four-cylinder unit with 220 HP, the 3.6 liter V6 naturally aspirated with 296 HP or the 3.0 liter twin-turbo V6 with 370 HP which will be known as the Macan Turbo. Diesel options will include a 2.0 liter TDI engine producing 190 HP and a larger 3.0 liter V6 TDI with 250 HP. Porsche might also offer a hybrid version, which might be borrowed from the Audi Q5 Hybrid.
