The German based automaker Porsche is currently planning to develop a direct rival for models such as the Ferrari 458 Italia and other supercars in the same segment.
While McLaren is currently developing an entry-level sports car, which will go against models such as the Porsche 911, the German based car manufacturer is planning to create its very own sports car which will be rivaling the current Ferrari 458 Italia, the McLaren 650S or the recently unveiled Lamborghini Huracan. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet and it’s currently a simple Autocar report.
According to our source, some Porsche engineers have confirmed that the new supercar will have a similar shape to the much more expensive and more powerful 918 Spyder and it won’t use the 4.2 liter flat six engine but a 4.0 liter unit, which will be offering extra power. The total output is expected to stand at approximately 600 HP, similar to what the competition has to offer. The car manufacturer is believed to introduce its brand new supercar sometimes in 2017. More details on it remain unknown for the moment and will eventually be confirmed close to its debut by the carmaker.
