Porsche Sells 81,500 Vehicles in the First Half of the Year image

During the first half of the year Porsche delivered 81,500 units globally, a record for this period.

From January to June Porsche shipped 81,500 vehicles, up 18% compared with the same period last year. In June the automaker delivered 14,300 vehicles, up 13% from June 2012.

“We’ve had a good first half to the year and go into the second six months highly motivated,” said Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board Sales and Marketing. Our attractive range of models is proving a hit with customers all over the world. Even before the new Panamera models are launched at the end of July, we already have a large number of orders.”

During the first six months all markets reached sales figures higher compared with last year, with the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific regions up 25.2% to 340,000 units. Sales in China were up 20% to 18,300 units and in the US deliveries increased 30% to 21,300 units.

This year Porsche’s 911 model celebrated its 50th anniversary and sales of the iconic vehicle gave a boost to the overall automaker’s sales with 15,834 units sold in the first half of the year, up 10%. The Cayman and the Boxter models sold 12,886 units, almost three times more compared with January-June 2012. The best-selling vehicle was the Cayenne with 42,354 units sold, up 22%.
