Porsche Sets Best March Sales in Company’s History image

Porsche reported 37,009 vehicles sold in the first quarter, an increase of 21.1% and 14,000 vehicles sold in March, for the first time in the automaker’s history.

The increase was mainly due to the heightened demand for the rear-engine and mid-engine models in China, where one third more 911, Cayman and Boxster models were delivered during the first three months of the year. In the Chinese market Porsche sold a total of 8,844 vehicles during the first quarter, one fourth more than the same period last year. At the end of April the automaker will launch the luxury plug-in hybrid Panamera at the Auto China in Shanghai.

“The success of the first quarter encourages us to implement our Strategy 2018 systematically,” said Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board Sales and Marketing of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. “Our responses to the uncertainties on the market are products that induce great enthusiasm in customers, such as the new Panamera as well as a highly motivated workforce.”

The 911 continues to be the best-selling model for Porsche with 7,230 units sold during the quarter, up 18.6% compared with the same period last year, followed by the Cayenne with 20,000 units sold so far this year.
