Porsche may reveal the 2013 Porsche Cayman this month at the Los Angeles Auto Show, as the German carmaker announced that a „compact sports car” will debut at the event.
With the 2013 Porsche Boxter already on sale, the reveal of its fixed-roof sibling is not far away. According to MotorTrend, the new-generation Cayman fits the bill of a compact sports car, since Porsche has given up on the idea to introduce a sub-Boxster model that would be the successor of the legendary 550 Spyder.
As one would expect, the new Cayman will receive updated exterior styling with cues taken from the new Boxster. The coupe will also use the 2.7-liter flat-six from the Boxster, albeit with 5 to 10 horsepower more than the roadster’s 265 hp. In the Cayman S model, Porsche will mount the 3.4-liter flat-six tuned to around 330 horsepower.
At the Los Angeles Auto Show Porsche will also showcase the 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4, a North American debut. The all-wheel-drive 911 will share the stage with the mystery small sports car on November 28.
The first generation of the Cayman debuted in 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
