Guy Pelly, a friend of Prince William and Price Harry, got a driving ban after he was clocked traveling with 129mph in his £100,000 supercar.
According to the court, Guy Pelly was caught by a speed gun while he was traveling with 129mph in his Audi R8 V10. The 30-year-old man was spotted by PC Adrian Ridley from about 1km away and said that Guy was travelling ‘significantly faster’ than the other traffic around it.’
‘It’s not an option at all that there was something wrong with the reading,’ said the officer, who has more than 20 years of experience.
Pelly, who is also a nightclub entrepreneur, admitted he exceeded the 70mph limit on the A303 near Cholderton, Salisbury, but he didn’t manage to appear to the court because of illness but the hearing went ahead in his absence. Although James Harrison, Pelly’s barrister, said that the speed was not as high as alleged, magistrates gave credibility to the policeman and relied on the accuracy of the device.
Therefore, Guy Pelly of Kensington, London, received a fine of £750m, £265 in costs and was disqualified from driving for 56 days.
