While the Dodge Challenger has always been treated as a Cinderella (without the prince) when discussing the American muscle car scene, the arrival of the Hellcat changed the equation quite a bit.
The Dodge Challenger has always been admired for the best interpretation of the retro-flavored modern design of the triumvirate (Mustang and Camaro owners might disagree, but that’s the plain truth) but that hasn’t actually helped them too much. They remain in third place behind the Camaro and Mustang – who trade places on a regular basis. But the Challenger Hellcat, thanks to the addition of the mindless supercharged engine has turned this into an instant quintessential American classic. You might think there’s nothing more to add. Guess again.
And the tuning kit that enhances the hellcat flavor comes from an unexpected place – German tuners at Prior Design, who use the PD900HC widebody kit to instill some European sensibility in a coupe that looks even more raw. The main change are the huge fenders, the all new front bumper with canards at each corner and a ground-scraping splitter. There’s also a huge rear diffuser and side skirts to bring the car closer to the ground. There’s also a trunk lip spoiler to complete the appearance and many parts have been finished in gloss black to contrast the body’s bright red paint. The kit is also available for any other Challenger and while the name suggests otherwise, there’s no added horsepower to go with the more menacing looks.
