Toyota Motor Sales, Inc. recently announced that the 2012 Prius Plug-in model has been approved for the State of California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program.
The CVRP was designed to promote the use of Zero Emissions Vehicles and relate to clean vehicle technologies, being a consumer made available in addition to the $2,500 Federal Tax credit offered for qualified vehicles. The program offers rebates to business owners, individuals, government entities and non-profit groups that purchase or lease plug-in hybrid vehicles or eligible zero-emission cars. Under CVRP, the Prius Plug-in is eligible for $1,500 rebate, offered to consumers on a first-come-first-served policy, who either purchase or lease the car for more than 36 months.
Prius Plug-in Hybrid is a combination between the third-generation Prius Liftback’s Hybrid Synergy Drive and a dedicated electric driving (EV) capability, at a competitive price. The Prius Family now includes the Prius Plug-in, includes the third-generation Prius Liftback, the versatile new Prius v and the all-new subcompact Prius c, available from March 2012.
Prius Plug-in has a new Li-ion battery, which offers overall fuel economy and convenient charging times of 2.5-3 hours using standard 120V outlet or 1.5 hours using 240V. It will be available in two models, the Prius Plug-in and the Prius Plug-in Advanced.
