The Italian based automaker Alfa Romeo is currently planning to introduce the production version of the 4C sports car in the United States, at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show.
With the 2012 Detroit Motor Show being over not too long ago and with the 2013 edition announced for next year, Alfa Romeo is now thinking outside the box and rumors are saying that the production version of the Alfa Romeo 4C sports car will be officially presented to the public at the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. Debuting the production version of the 4C in Detroit will also mark the company’s return to the United States, and the model is expected to join a future lineup made out of the Giulia sedan and wagon, five-door Mito, a Spider, a 6c flagship and a crossover.
The production version of the Alfa Romeo 4C is expected to come with exterior panels made out of sheet-molded composites and under the hood, rumors say that the sports car will be powered by a 1.8 liter turbo engine, the same one currently powering the Giulietta model, which will come with approximately 230 horsepower, helping the model to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds. 18,000 units of the Alfa Romeo 4C will be made over the lifetime of the vehicle and the starting price is expected to be set at 45,000 USD.
