The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe has entered production at the company’s plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
After being officially unveiled just a few months ago, the brand new Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe is getting ready to arrive in showrooms as the model has entered production recently. According to the car manufacturer, the SAV is being put together in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and it is easily distinguishable from the regular GLE (ML), thanks to the sloping roofline and several other modifications which are putting it against the BMW X6.
“For more than 20 years, we have been successfully building sport utility vehicles in Alabama for the world market. We have had three keys to our success here. First, we have an excellent partnership with the State of Alabama. Second, we are integrated in the global production network of Mercedes-Benz. And third, we have a fantastic workforce that continues to put in 100 % of effort every day”, said the MBUSI president and CEO, Jason Hoff.
The new Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe has made its premiere on the Old Continent at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The engine lineup of the SAV includes the 258 HP (190 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque 3.0 liter V6 diesel, the twin turbo V6 with 333 HP (245 kW) & 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque and 367 HP (270 kW) & 520 Nm (383 lb-ft) of torque, and the twin turbo 5.5 liter V8, rated at either 557 HP (410 kW & 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) and 585 HP (430 kW) & 760 Nm (561 lb-ft), in the range-topping AMG versions.
