The Asian-region exclusive model is quickly reaching the point of new generation introduction, with the first teaser for the 2016 Persona already out and about.
The new Persona has dropped by online to give us the chance to judge its update credentials, with the model based on the already presented Proton Iriz – though this time around the new generation Persona isn’t expected to be offered on a global level just like the outgoing generation. The predecessor reached even distant shores such as Great Britain or Australia, but the Malaysian company has now decided against promoting the new generation model to such great lengths. It appears though we’re going to be treated to a nice and interesting replacement, as we can see in the teaser there’s a reworked front end that dramatically changes the entire design of the car compared to the current Persona.
There’s a big lower air intake stretching out towards the low corners of the front bumper – that one holds different fog light clusters and the upper half of the front fascia has the traditional Proton badge, a thin horizontal grille and a set of slender headlights. The rumor mill gives the new Persona carrying 1.3-liter and 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engines. The base version will pack 94 hp at 5,750 rpm and 120 Nm (88 lb-ft) of torque at 4,000 rpm while the higher-powered model has 107 hp and 150 Nm (110 lb-ft).
