First shown at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show in concept form, the 3 Q-Lectriq will be almost production ready in time for the Guangzhou, with expected production slated to commence next year.
While it’s still labeled as a concept, technically the Guangzhou motor show will be production ready, with the model being the first all-electric Qoros, and one with a claimed top capability range of 350 km (217 miles), as well as a maximum speed of about 101 mph (162 km/h). It can also sprint from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just seven seconds – and that means when out on the market next year it will compete directly with the Chevrolet Bolt / Opel Ampera-e, as well as the Tesla Model 3. Qoros added they would sell it for less than the current roster of EV models, in a bid to “provide its green-conscious customers more accessible products in the future”.
The 3 Q-Lectriq is considered by the company as a “high-performance new-energy car” and will try to chase younger buyers, the Chinese millennial generation being usually labeled as “unconventional”. At the show the automaker will also have the Qoros 3 GT – “China’s first sports crossover sedan”, a model that is quite similar in ideas and shape to the Volvo S60 Cross Country.
