If you are not from UK, or maybe you don’t know – the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II is a multinational celebration throughout 2012 marking the 60th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom to the throne.
Queen Elizabeth II sailed along the Thames Sunday on a royal barge at the centre of a spectacular 1,000-boat river pageant.
More than a million spectators lined the banks of the river to cheer the 86-year-old monarch, who is only the second British monarch to celebrate a diamond jubilee, after Queen Victoria.
The procession was led by the £1 million Gloriana vessel powered by 18 oarsmen, including Olympian Steve Redgrave.
The river pageant was the main event of four days of celebrations for the 60th year of the queen’s reign and street parties were held around the country.
Millions more attended street parties up and down the country despite generally inclement weather, and massing crowds once again began turning the famous Mall avenue towards Buckingham Palace into a sea of red, white and blue for the culmination of celebrations.
