We’re on the last mile – err, last month – on our way to the 85th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race at the iconic Circuit de la Sarthe in France and it turns out the grueling endurance race is going to be mirrored in the virtual world.
To be more precise, Porsche and Microsoft teamed up again after previously organizing at the New York Auto Show earlier this year along with Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) the “Forza Racing Championship (Forza RC) Season 3: The Porsche Cup.” It turns out, if you make it past the qualifying rounds already taking place, you’ll get to compete in the final that will be staged as a 24-hour marathon taking place exactly during the same time as the actual Le Mans race.
All gamers will have to do with the virtual version of the Porsche 919 Hybrid as they fight for real money and the title in the newly created “Official Endurance Esports Category” established by ACO. All you need is to sign up at this link and own an Xbox and Forza Motorsport 6. The ongoing qualifying rounds will be finished on May 28 and the race is taking place June 17-18, with live streaming from Microsoft on YouTube, Twitch, and Beam.
