The truck maker isn’t keen on sending off its current generation 1500 pickup truck into the sunset, even as they diligently prepare for the arrival of the new iteration, so it’s keeping itself busy with a new limited-edition model.
The 2018 Ram 1500 Hydro Blue Sport special edition is, as the name implies, combining a superb blue hue with a dynamic stance. The Hydro Blue Sport comes to complement previous special editions that were color-coordinated, such as the Sublime (Green), Rebel Blue, Copper, and Ignition Orange. It comes with a raft of unique additions – a black-colored Sport performance hood, a body-colored sport grille, a new introduction for the 2018 model year, flat black exterior body-side and tailgate badging, along with black RAM lettering. The sporty edition also gains a set of polished 22-inch aluminum wheels, for the 4×2 models, or 20 inch ones for the all-wheel drive versions.
There are also options – 22-inch gloss black wheels in the 4×2, 20-inch gloss black aluminum wheels for the 4×4, along with things such as black tubular side steps, chrome wheel-to-wheel side steps, an Active Level air suspension, ParkSense, and RamBox storage. The interior closely follows the exterior theme, with blue color-matching accent stitching on the instrument panel, steering wheel, and door trim. Blue Sport embroidery is also present, along with blue anodized surfaces for the instrument panel bezels, center console trim, and door panels. A black headliner completes the look, and there’s also the option of full leather seating and trim. Prices kick off at $40,060, and only 2,000 examples of the Hydro Blue will be available with the Ram 1500 Sport crew cab models featuring the 5.7-liter Hemi V8.
