After Land Rover presented to the Malaysian auto market the new Range Rover Evoque just a few days ago, the British based automaker decided it’s time to introduce its newest model to India, launching it from the Jaguar Land Rover corporate showroom in Mumbai.
“The Range Rover Evoque is a very important addition to the Land Rover and Range Rover product portfolio and I am delighted to be present at such a significant launch. The car has excited audiences across the world and we expect the same from the discerning Indian customers”, said the managing director of Tata Motors, PM Telang.
According to the British based automaker, the Range Rover Evoque will be available in India in both five-door and coupe body styles, where the coupe will come with a petrol variant and the five-door version in diesel, with the crossover being “separated” into three distinct derivatives: Pure, Prestige and Dynamic.
The 2.0 liter petrol engine available on the three-door and five-door versions, with the Dynamic Plus Package, is developing 240 PS and 340 Nm of torque, while the larger 2.2 liter diesel unit, available only for the five-door variant, is generation 190 PS and 420 Nm of torque.
Both engines are mated to the latest generation of the AW F-21 six-speed automatic transmission with Rotary Auto Shifter and the 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes 7.6 seconds for the 2.0 petrol, while for the diesel another second will be added. Top speed is 217 km/h for the petrol and 195 km/h for the diesel engine.
Land Rover has set the starting price for the Range Rover Evoque in India at Rs44.75 lakh.
