A rare Lada Niva off-roader has been found on eBay and the 1980s SUV of choice found in Eastern Europe and Russia has a starting bid of 6.000 USD.
Even if at the time when this article was written there were no bids for it, you should probably hurry up because once real petrol heads find out about this, they will most likely buy it for over $10k. The Lada Niva 4X4 SUV was made in the USSR and it still is one of the best off-road vehicles out there. The owner of the SUV says that its engine has been “transformed” into a 1981 Fiat Spider DOHC four-cylinder with Bosch fuel injection, which actually doubled the horsepower figure.
“Up for bid is a 1980 Lada Niva. As the door plate says, this 4X4 SUV was made in the USSR. This is your chance to own the same type of off-road vehicle as Vladimir Putin. While these are the vehicles of choice throughout much of Eastern Euroep and Russia, they are extremely rare in the US”, as the owner says on eBay.
According to the sale page, the Lada Niva is powered, as we said above, by a 1981 Fiat Spider DOHC four-cylinder engine, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The engine has done only 9.700 miles, but even so, the vehicle does not come with a warranty. As for the problems with the Russian off-roader, its owner says that the headlight wipers don’t work and the spare tire doesn’t hold air. Pretty impressive for a 30-year-old car.
