Continental Tire said it will recall 390, 657 light-truck tires most of which are used as original tires on 2008-2009 Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks.
Ford spokesman Wes Sherwood said the tire recall affected 65,000 pickup trucks in the United States and Canada.
Some of the tires could experience uneven wear, vibration or separation between the belt edges in cases where the truck is overloaded or underinflated. Separation of the belt edges could lead to tread belt separation, increasing the risk of a crash.
Continental Tire will notify owners and replace the affected tires free of charge.
Nhtsa on Friday said that Continental Tire company will notify owners and will replace the affected tires free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during March 2011. Owners may contact continental customer service toll-free at 1-888-799-2168.
