Recall roundup: 1.1m Volkswagen vehicles for rear suspension problems image

Volkswagen has just issued a new recall for 1.1 million vehicles in North America and in China because of some problems with their rear suspensions.

According to the car manufacturer, there are a total of 1.1 million cars affected by this problem in both China and North America. VW says that the vehicles mentioned here are the Jetta, the Beetle and the Beetle Convertible.

“Volkswagen of America today notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it will be issuing a voluntary safety recall affecting the trailing arms on the torsion beam rear suspension”, said the carmaker in its official press release.

The affected Volkswagen vehicles are the 2011 – 2013 model year Jetta and certain 2012 – 2013 model year Beetle and Beetle Convertible. The recall is expected to begin soon and the necessary repairs / replacements will be made free of charge to the owners. Volkswagen is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem. Owners of the above mentioned models will be notified by the company and they will be instructed to arrange an appointment with an authorized VW dealer.
