The North American based automotive giant General Motors has recently announced a recall for the 2012 Buick Regal because of faulty parking lights.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 3, 633 units of the 2012 Buick Regal models will be affected by this recall, manufactured between February 22, 2011 to February 22, 2012 because of a problem with the parking lights, which, if ignored, could lead to reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash. General Motors didn’t say anything about possible reports on the problem received by owners.
“Due to a software error, the parking lamps do not activate when either the parking lamps or headlamps are turned on. Inadequate lighting could reduce the visibility of the vehicle, increasing the potential for a crash”, as the NHTSA is saying in its recall summary.
Owners of the 2012 Buick Regal will be notified by General Motors and dealers will have to reprogram the body control module free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on the 12th of March, 2012 and owners of the above mentioned model can contact GM at 1-800-521-7300 or the NHTSA hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (NHTSA Campaign ID Number: 12V093000).
