General Motors has recently announced a recall for the 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport because of a problem with the vehicles’ parking break.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, about 2,070 units of the 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport model will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers. The NHTSA is saying that the parking brake in the 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport models might become inoperative and it might not hold the vehicles.
“The park brake cable may not be fully seated in its connector and may separate from the connector. If this occurs, the park brake will become inoperative and will not hold the vehicle. If the vehicle is on an uneven surface, this could result in unintended vehicle movement and a crash”, as the NHTSA is saying in its official press release.
The affected vehicles have been produced between the 26th of April 2012 and the 17th of May 2012 and the model has been sold to fleets in the United States. GM didn’t say anything about any possible reports received from owners related to this problem. The recall is expected to begin on the 18th of July and owners can contact Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546.
