The North American based automotive giant General Motor has recently announced a recall for the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic model because of missing front brake pads.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 4.300 units of the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic will be affected by this recall and its owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers in order to get this problem fixed. The feds are saying that the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is missing either the front outer brake pad or the front inner brake pad and in this case, the brake system will not only make some extra noise, but it will be obviously reduced.
The NHTSA says that the problem with the missing front brake pads may lead to a potential crash, even if no reports of injuries or accidents have been received because of this issue yet. It seems that the dealers will be inspecting both front brakes and replace components which were damaged or missing, being free of charge for the customers. Sonic owners will be informed about this recall starting with January 14, 2012, when Chevrolet will start sending letters. Owners of the above mentioned model can contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236.
