Chrysler Group LLC has announced a recall for the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country and for the 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan because of a problem with the rear suspension which might lead to a wheel separation.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 289 units of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country and 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan will be affected by this recall and owners of the two models will have to take a trip back to the dealers in order to get the problem with the rear suspension fixed. The NHTSA is saying that if ignored, this might result in a wheel separation.
“Some vehicles may be equipped with right rear hub and bearing assemblies that were not fully machined. This could result in a decrease in durability, which may lead to wheel separation, increasing the risk of a crash”, as the NHTSA is saying in its recalls summary of the problem.
The Chrysler Group isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem and the recall is expected to being in April. Owners of the two models mentioned above will be contacted by the company, but until then, they can call the manufacturer at 1-800-853-1403. In other words, the 2012 Volkswagen Routan is also being recalled because of a similar problem.
