Chevrolet has announced a recall for the 2013-2014 model years Sonic because of a problem which may affect the fuel tank.
Bad news for owners of the 2013-2014 model years Chevrolet Sonic (Aveo) in the United States because they will have to take a trip back to the dealers because of a problem which can affect the vehicles’ fuel tanks. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a total of 1, 558 units of the 2013-2014 Chevrolet Sonics will be affected by this recall in the United States, along with other 100 units which have been sold in Canada.
The NHTSA says that in a potentially faulty fuel tank, a strap bracket weld can separate and leading to the fuel tank resting on the exhaust pipe or plastic fuel tank shield. This can result to so some fuel leaking and even to a fire, increasing the risk of the driver, passengers and not only. Most units of the 2013-2014 Chevrolet Sonic haven’t been sold and are still on dealer lots, who will inspect the fuel tank bracket straps and make the necessary repairs. Owners of these models will be notified on the recall by mail, probably in a few weeks.
