The North American based automaker Chevrolet has recently announced a recall for the 2013 Sonic model because of a problem with the turn signal lamps.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 4, 716 units of the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic will be affected by this recall and owners of the model will have to take a trip back to the dealers. General Motors says that the problem with the defective turn signal lamps has been detected by the company’s staff during vehicle validation.
“When a turn signal lamp fails to operate, the Body Control Module in these vehicles does not detect this condition and will not indicate the condition to the driver. If the driver is not aware that the turn signal is not functioning and does not have the light repaired, other drivers may not be alerted that the vehicle is turning, increasing the risk of a crash”, as the NHTSA is saying in its recalls summary of the problem.
The affected 2013 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles have been produced between the 29th of May, 2012 and the 29th of August, 2012. The recall will begin on the 3rd of October and the company’s dealers will reprogram the Body Control Module and the vehicle’s key fobs. Owners are encouraged to contact Chevrolet at 866-694-6546.
