The North American based automotive giant General Motors has recently issued a recall for the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic models because of a problem with the turn signals.
After 44, 000 units of the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic have been recalled just a month ago because of a leaky windshield washer reservoir hose, the 2013 model year of the Chevrolet Sonic is into the attention of the NHTSA once again. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 4,700 units of the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic will have to be taken back to the dealers because of the turn signals, which don’t operate properly.
“General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles manufactured from May 29, 2012, through August 29, 2012. When a turn signal lamp fails to operate, the Body Control Module (BCM) in these vehicles does not detect this condition and will not indicate the condition to the driver. Thus, These vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, ‘Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment’”, as the NHTSA is saying in its recalls summary of the problem.
The affected vehicles have been produced between the 29th of May and the 29th of August and the recall is expected to begin on the 3rd of October. Owners of the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic are being advised to contact the carmaker at 1-866-694-6546 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
