The Japanese based automaker Nissan has recently announced a recall for certain 2013 Titan vehicles, because of some problems with their gearshifts.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a total of 2,180 units of the 2013 Nissan Titan will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers. The affected vehicles are equipped with steering column-mounted transmission shift levers and because of some chemicals used in the manufacturing of the lever, the transmission shift lever may be shifted out of park without pressing the brake pedal, increasing the risk of a crash or / and an injury.
The NHTSA says that if the vehicle is unintentionally shifted out of park, the vehicle could roll away. The affected 2013 Nissan Titan trucks have been produced between the 22nd of January, 2013, and the 20th of February, 2013, and are from the 2013 model year. Owners of these models will be notified and the company’s dealers will be notified in order to remedy the vehicles, free of charge. The recall should begin on the 8th of April, 2013. Meanwhile, if you own such a truck, you should probably contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
