Hyundai has recently issued a recall for the recently unveiled 2015 Sonata because of a problem with the wiring harness.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that a total of 2,138 vehicles of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata will be affected by the wiring harness issue which might limit the amount of power steering help and it might even make it difficult to shift out of Park, in some cases.
“A poor connection within the vehicle’s wiring harness may result in a reduction of steering assist from the vehicle’s motor driven power steering system or the inability to move the vehicle’s shifter from the Park position. The reduction of power steering assist can increase the steering effort needed, increasing the risk of a crash”, says the NHTSA in its official press release.
The affected 2015 Hyundai Sonata vehicles have been produced between the 2nd of May, 2014, and the 23rd of May, 2014. Dealers will be notified to suspend sales of the affected Sonata vehicles and owners of such vehicles will have to take them back in order to get this problem solved. For any extra details on the subject, owners can contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
