Recall roundup: Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia image

The North American based automotive giant General Motors has announced a recall for the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia, because of a problem with the windshield wipers.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 50,001 units of the 2011-2012 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers in order to get the problem with the defective windshield wipers fixed. The recall will only take place in cold-weather states, as the NHTSA is saying.

“Snow or ice buildup on the windshield or on the wiper restricts the movement of the wiper arm. The wiper arm may loosen and cause the wiper to become inoperative. If this occurs, driver visibility could be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash”, as the NHTSA says in its recalls summary of the problem.

General Motors didn’t say anything about any reports received from customers or possible accidents or injuries related to this defect. The recall will begin on the 16th of April and owners of the above mentioned models can contact Buick at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC at 1-800-462-8782.
