The NHTSA has added two recalls from General Motors for the Cadillac ATS and the Chevrolet Impala because of two separate issues.
The 2013 to 2015 Cadillac ATS is the subject of a recall which has been recently announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The model in question has a problem with the power operated roof panels auto-close when the Slide or Tilt switches are pressed and since the switch is not recessed, this may inadvertently be pressed, leading to unintended auto-closure, increasing the risk of injury. Owners of the models produced between April 25, 2012, to February 9, 2015, will be notified by GM and the roof console accessory switch trim plate will be replaced, free of charge. For more details, owners can contact Cadillac at 1 800 458 8006.
The second recall is affecting the 2014 Chevrolet Impala vehicles, which have been put together between November 15, 2012, to May 27, 2014. In the affected models, the electronic parking brake piston actuation arm may not retract completely and this will lead to the brake pads remaining engaged. This may cause excessive brake heat and could eventually lead to a fire. Owners of these vehicles will also be notified by General Motors and the company’s dealers will be reprogramming the electronic parking brake control module with new software, of course, free of charge. A notification schedule hasn’t been provided yet but owners may contact Chevrolet at 1 800 222 1020 or the NHTSA at 1 888 327 4236.
