The North American based automaker General Motors has recently announced a recall for the Chevrolet Colorado and for the GMC Canyon because of a problem with the hood latches.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a total of 118,800 units of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers because of the problem with the hood latches.
“General Motors is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon vehicles manufactured from November 9, 2009, through August 28, 2012, for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, “Hood Latch System.” The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch”, as the NHTSA is saying in its official press release.
Owners of the two models mentioned above will be notified by General Motors and dealers will be instructed on how to remedy the vehicles. The recall is expected to begin on the 17th of January, 2013. Meanwhile, owners of the Colorado and Canyon pickup trucks are being advised to contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438, GMC at 1-866-996-9463 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
