Recall roundup: Chrysler 200 for electrical short issue image

The North American based automaker Chrysler has recently announced a recall for several Chrysler 200 vehicles because of a possible electrical short problem.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are a few units of the Chrysler 200 which will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers in order to get their problems solved. The affected vehicle have been fitted with a wiring harness of an insufficient wire gauge and the component is located in the driver’s side door.

The NHTSA says that because of the insufficient wire gauge, excessive heat can melt the wiring insulation in the door and this can lead to a short circuit and even to a fire, putting the lives of the car’s occupants as stake. Chrysler says that only 8 vehicles are affected by this recall and all of them have been produced between the 19th of May and the 21st of June, 2014. The company’s dealerships will be inspecting the cars and make the necessary replacements free of charge. For any extra details on the subject, owners can contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
