Recall roundup: Ferrari 458 because person can get trapped in the trunk image

No, it’s not a joke. One of the weirdest recalls ever made is affecting one of the hottest rear mid-engined, rear-wheel drive supercars: the Ferrari 458.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has just announced one of the weirdest recalls ever, affecting the Ferrari 458. According to the feds, owners of the Italian supercar will have to take their rides back to the dealers because a person can get trapped in the trunk.

“In the event an individual is trapped in the trunk and the latch system does not release the trunk lid, it increases the risk of personal injury or possibly death”, the NHTSA explains.

We are not sure who would place himself / herself or someone else inside the trunk of a Ferrari 458 but the NHTSA is not taking this as a joke. Anyway, the affected Ferrari 458 supercars are both the Italia coupes and the Spiders which have been put together from the 5th of March, 2010, until the 20th of May, 2013. If you own such a vehicle and you have more questions on the subject, you should contact your local Ferrari dealership or the NHTSA hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
